Cabaret Verboten

Hello

If this is your first visit, welcome to Musings. If you have been here before, welcome back. Over time we are going to talk about many things: the past, the present, perhaps the future, travel, art, society and more. Wherever my musing takes me. I hope you will come along with me.

Friday night was terrific!  We had a great time, Jeanette, myself and our friends Bruce and Debbie.  We went to the theater at the  Arts Garage in Delray Beach and saw Cabaret Verboten.  As I said, it was terrific.  If you have a chance you should go.

The Cabaret  Verboten is based upon cabaret from Weimar Germany (1918-1933), that period after World War I that brought Hitler into power.   It is saucy, satirical, sometimes mean and nasty and very engaging.  We had the good fortune to be seated with Jeremy Lawrence the director.

The Theater in itself is a special experience.  It is located in the ground floor level of  the Old School Square Parking Garage in downtown Delray Beach.  It is now called the Arts Garage.  In addition to the theater the space is used for  performances, film, concerts, workshops, and multi-disciplinary classes. The Arts Garage has evolved into a multi-disciplinary cultural hub for visual artists, musicians, performers, film presenters and arts educators.

Making this all the more fun is the casual ambiance.

We brought a picnic dinner and a couple of bottles of wine.

About half of the audience did the same.  We had a fun dinner, saw a great performance and were happily entertained.  If you are in our part of the state you  owe it to yourself to check them out.  They are located at 180 NE First Street, Delray Beach, FL  33444.  The office number is 561 450-6357
