Herb in Florida

Hello

Today we are going to Muse about a one of a kind party. If this is your first visit, welcome to Musings. If you have been here before, welcome back. Over time we are going to talk about many things: the past, the present, perhaps the future, travel, art, society and more. Wherever my musing takes me. I hope you will come along with me.

Herb in Florida

Let me tell you about a party:  Herb in Florida.  Saturday it was held for the 22nd year.  The Green Gables Croquet Club holds its winter tournament at the Beach Club here in Palm Beach.  Herb throws his party at the conclusion of the tournament.  I took some photos with my I-Phone.  They are not very good but they will give you a flavor of the event.

How it was that Herb started this, I do not know but it is an annual sought after event.  Saturday there were in excess of 400 guests. Great fun.

Cocktails and  Hors d’oeuvres

As we entered the party servers were moving through the crowd with champagne, red wine and hors d’oeuvres.  We entered the Garden room where there was a full open bar.  That set the tone.

Dinner

After about an hour of cocktails and all the mixing that entails, the party moved into the dining area for a sit down multi course dinner.

Nearby was  the dance floor and band.

Dancing

The band played on through dinner and  people took the opportunity to dance.

And the People Danced

There was a lot of table hopping and visiting.

But it kept coming back to the band

and the mobbed dance floor.

This was a special evening.  You seldom see a band like this anymore.  I don’t think parties like this will last much longer. This is a passing era.

How long the festivities went on I don’t know.  We headed home about 11:00PM.  It seemed to still be going strong.

It was a great time.  Thank you, Herb.
