Change

Hello

Today we are going to Muse about a changing neighborhood.  If this is your first visit, welcome to Musings. If you have been here before, welcome back. Over time we are going to talk about many things: the past, the present, perhaps the future, travel, art, society and more. Wherever my musing takes me. I hope you will come along with me.

Neighborhood in Transition

Today is the first really nice day we have had in months.  This year south Florida  has been more hot and humid than any I remember.  We have waited for and yearned for a break, especially in the humidity.  Today it arrived.

It is a beautiful day, a bit cool with a breeze and low humidity. Jeanette went off for a walk.  I decided to get on my bike and cruise around the neighborhood.

In the next block to the north of us I came across this.

New Construction

There used to be an old ramshackle house on the lot.  Its gone now and a new one is coming out of the ground.

Across the street is this.

Contemporary

This is near completion.

This is remarkable.  Ours is an established neighborhood with some homes dating from the 1920’s and most from the 1960’s.  It is definitely undergoing change.

I rode my bike around my street, one block, and the two blocks north of where I live.  These are new homes built in the last five years.

That is in three blocks!  In addition to these new homes, many others have been or are being remodeled.  North and south of us whole neighborhoods are experiencing the same transformation.  It is nice to see.
