HALLOWEEN APPROACHES

Hello

Today we are going to Muse about Halloween.  If this is your first visit, welcome to Musings. If you have been here before, welcome back. Over time we are going to talk about many things: the past, the present, perhaps the future, travel, art, society and more. Wherever my musing takes me. I hope you will come along with me.

Halloween is just a few days away

I have read that it is the most popular and universally recognized holiday.  My earliest memory of it goes back to the time when I was visiting my grandparents.  I was 4.  And I was enchanted by these strange kids who started showing up in the dark.  Last year I was Musing about that earlier time.  If you missed it and want to see what I said, click on this:  Halloween.

So today I was walking the dog and checking out the house decorations.  Years back that meant the jack-o-lantern or pumpkin.  Here is our modern version.

Today things are different.  Many houses are decorated.  And with creepy stuff!

Cob Webs, ghouls, rats and spiders . . . pretty heavy stuff for little kids.  These things have an undercurrent of violence and malevolence.  We have enough of that. Halloween is a time of fantasy focused on children.  Why not make it more wholesome?

I vote for this.
