Chaos

Hello

Today we are going to Muse about chaos.   If this is your first visit, welcome to Musings. If you have been here before, welcome back. Over time we are going to talk about many things: the past, the present, perhaps the future, travel, art, society and more. Wherever my musing takes me. I hope you will come along with me.

Chaos

| ˈkāˌäs | noun
complete disorder and confusion:

chaos

chaos

It has been one of those times.

Last month we experienced the trauma of a fender bender.  No injuries except to the car.  The same day the car went straight to the body shop.  The adjuster was out the next morning and the insurance check was sent to the dealership.  Three weeks later we inquired about the  repair.

When can we expect the car?
Oh, We have been backed up.  We should start on it soon.

 Say what?!

I talked with my insurance agent,  a company with which I have had my coverage since 1990.  She informed me I did not have coverage for a rental car in the case of an accident.  I said, “That’s not correct.  I have always had rental coverage.”
” Well,” she said, “when this car was added to the policy it wasn’t covered for rental car expense.”

Say what?!
How do you add a car to your policy and have it have different coverage?  Not too happy here.

We hope to get the car today.  It has been six weeks.

More excitement

So, in my curmudgeon mood about inconvenience and cost I focused my attention on other issues.  I decided we were paying way too much for our cable television.

What do we have 450 channels for?  We watch 3 or 4!

Monday I contacted ATT and signed up for DirectTV to be installed Thursday.  Tuesday I turned on the television and discovered my cable had been disconnected.  In a rant I called U-verse and spent a couple of hours spread among four people trying to get the coverage restored.  The best I could do was get them to offer to send a technician the following day to correct the problem,  I said, “Forget it.  I am having the new service installed Thursday.  It doesn’t make sense to come out for one day.”

The following day I was on the Croquet court when my phone rang.  (That’s a NO NO).  “Hi, This is Tim with ATT.  I’m about 15 minutes away.”

 Say what?!

Thursday Direct TV came out and got us set up.  Works like a charm.

Today, four days later, I received an e-mail informing me I am signed up for  both U-verse and Direct TV.

Say what?!

And more

Last week while all this was demanding my attention, Jeanette was busying herself in the kitchen.  She set the timer on the microwave for an hour, or so she thought.  Actually, she set the microwave on cook for an hour … on high … with nothing in it.  It burned up.

So we measured the space in which the microwave sits and I went on the internet and ordered a replacement.  The model we had was no longer available, so I ordered one similar.  We used Amazon.com of course.  They are so efficient!  It arrived the next day.

Hmm.  I mis-measured.  It was too small for the space.  But Amazon has a great return policy.  I packed it up.  Notified Amazon I would be returning it.  I ordered a larger microwave and sent the small microwave back.

Two days later the new, correctly sized oven arrived.  Voila!  Three days later its twin arrived.

When you are smiling, the whole world smiles with you.  Are we smiling?
