On The Subject of Euphemism

Today we are going to Muse about euphemism.   If this is your first visit, welcome to Musings. If you have been here before, welcome back. Over time we are going to talk about many things: the past, the present, perhaps the future, travel, art, society and more. Wherever my musing takes me. I hope you will come along with me.

On The Subject of Euphemism

pass away

euphemistic die: she passed away in her sleep.

I am of the age now that I find myself on occasion reading the obituaries . . . to check up on my friends.

Down here, Florida,  people “go to their reward”, “rise to heaven” or simply “pass away”.  Most simply “pass away”.

Today I read the following:  “On (date). a cloudy and drizzly afternoon, the heavens opened up as our beloved Dad embarked on his journey home into the arms of our Lord surrounded by angels.  Awaiting his arrival were his departed parents (name),  his wife (name) and his brother (name).”

Oh My!

Just so you know, when I am gone please do not pass me away.  I would like it said that I “died”.

On a different subject

with the word “away” in mind, it seems a lot of people are away.

Last week started like this

angry sky

and much of the week , each day it seems, we had rain.

Teddy liked it.

Finally we had a break, a nice day.  We headed out to the Beach Club.

Where did everyone go?

There was no-one on the croquet courts,
