Today we are going to Muse about change. If this is your first visit, welcome to Musings. If you have been here before, welcome back. Over time we are going to talk about many things: the past, the present, perhaps the future, travel, art, society and more. Wherever my musing takes me. I hope you will come along with me.

Down the street from where I live stood the Southern Boulevard Bridge, a drawbridge. It was one of three drawbridges that connect Palm Beach to the mainland. The other two have formal names, but locally they are referred to as the “North Bridge” and the “Middle Bridge”. So that is the set: North, Middle and South.
These are pretty substantial bridges:
You can see by comparison the South Bridge was pretty dated. It had to go. Too bad, I rather liked the scale of it and had used it as a subject in several painting.
You have probably seen it many times. When the Trumpet comes to town it is the road he takes to Mar a Lago.
So the plan is to build a temporary bridge next to the old bridge. Then tear down the old bridge and build a new bridge and then tear down the temporary bridge. Should take several years.
The process is underway.
This is where the entrance to the old bridge was. To the left is the new temporary road. The structure behind the yellow machinery is the temporary bridge. The bridge does not tilt open; the road bed between the vertical supports is raised in a horizontal position to the top of the structure when the bridge opens.
You can see the east end of the bridge has been removed. That is Trump’s club, Mar a Lago in the distance.
The old deck is hauled away some place.
So this is what is happening in our neighborhood. We are going to deal with this for some time.
On a different note, I’ll show you something interesting, a mystery.
Look at this photo:
I took this at the beach the other day. Do you see anything interesting? In the water, up by the horizon?
Here is a close-up. That is the wake of a boat that went by about ten minute before. Not a large boat. Why is that still there? It is a mystery.
