Hot Hot Hot

Hello

Today we are going to Muse about heat.   If this is your first visit, welcome to Musings. If you have been here before, welcome back. Over time we are going to talk about many things: the past, the present, perhaps the future, travel, art, society and more. Wherever my musing takes me. I hope you will come along with me.

Hot Hot Hot

It’s the dog days of summer and ever so hot.  All over the country heat records are being broken.  I think it is evidence of “climate change”.  Here, in Florida, each day seems to be a couple of degrees hotter than last year but the humidity is the real problem.

I listened to an interview of a scientist on National Public Radio last week.  He was asked if  a recent hurricane was caused by climate change.  His response went something like this: “It is not possible to say that any particular event, hurricane, drought, flood, etc is caused by climate change.  These events occur as a natural part of weather.  But we know that climate change exists because there is clear evidence that the severity of these events is increasing.  There are more days of higher temperature.  There are more severe rains, leading to flooding and destruction.  There are more extremes and that is a result of the planet being hotter.”

That makes sense to me.

Croquet

So . . . the hot hot hot takes a toll when we are on the croquet lawns.  There is no shade.

Jeanette and I will be playing as the team “Pretty Nearly Perfect” in the final match of the National Croquet Center Golf Croquet Summer League on Tuesday.  Teams are divided into those which play on Tuesday and those which play on Wednesday.  The first five weeks play determines the winner of each group.  Jeanette and I are the Wednesday Championship Flight Winner.

Tuesday we will play against the Tuesday Night Championship Flight Winners and one of us will be League Champion and the other Runner-up.  Wish us luck.

Fortunately, the matches start at 6PM and the heat has lost some of the intensity.

At the end of the week we will wing our way down to Mexico with Teddy in tow.  So you won’t hear from me for a while.  Beating the heat.  Be well.
