The Changing Neighborhood

Hello

Today we are going to Muse about my changing neighborhood.  If this is your first visit, welcome to Musings. If you have been here before, welcome back. Over time we are going to talk about many things: the past, the present, perhaps the future, travel, art, society and more. Wherever my musing takes me. I hope you will come along with me.

The Changing Neighborhood

Change is in the wind.  I have lived in three neighborhoods over the years I have been in West Palm Beach, Florida,  the north, the middle and the south, always along the Intracoastal Waterway.

Currently my home is in the neighborhood south of Southern Boulevard (State Road 80) and is called SOSO.

This is a nice neighborhood, generally well-kept.

Since it is bordered by the waterway the traffic is light, usually limited to people who live in the area.

The majority of the homes were built after world war II and are single story ranch homes like these.

But change is underway.  These homes are being turn down and replaced by bigger and more imposing homes.  Today I drove around my local streets within only a few blocks of our home and this is some of what I saw.

This one is interesting.  It is across the street from the Intracoastal Waterway.  The lot is built up to be level with the top of the white wall.  Protection against storm surge!

These are all custom homes being built in a mature neighborhood.  Amazing.

Imagine my surprise when I saw this:

I lived here from 1997 to 2001
